This is an intermediate level professional responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients of all ages including performing appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including patient counseling. Work will be providing care in the areas of Family Planning, and STIs.
Examples of Duties: Responsibilities include: giving a medical diagnosis, ordering therapy, and prescribing medications; obtaining a thorough patient history and physical examination; performing appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures; recording and presenting information to the physician; developing and maintaining health care and therapeutic plans; and counseling patients. An employee in this position will be practicing under the supervision of a medical preceptor (who is ultimately responsible for the employees medical practice) with the physician immediately available by telephone.
Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from a Physician Assistant program approved by the N.C. Board of Medical Examiners and \"approved to practice medical acts\" based on education and experience by the Board of Medical Examiners, and preferably one year of experience as an extender; or graduation from an accredited Surgeon's Assistant Program of at least 24 months duration and \"approved to practice medical acts\" based on education and experience by the Board of Medical Examiners; or licensed as a Registered Nurse by the Board of Nursing, graduation from a Nurse Practitioner program approved by the N. C. Joint Subcommittee of the Board of Nursing and Board of Medical Examiners, and \"approved to practice medical acts\" based on education and experience by the Joint Subcommittee, and preferably one year of experience as an extender; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge in the areas of Women's Health and Family Planning encouraged but not required.
